To enable the pedal assist mode, you need to install the pedal sensor and magnet disc. Follow these steps for proper installation: (PAS installation is at 0.55 Sec)
1. Proper Alignment
- Sensor and Magnet Alignment: Align the centre of the sensor with the magnets on the disc.
- Positioning: Adjust the sensor within 3mm of the magnetic disc using foam adhesive spacers.
- Facing Direction: Ensure the target on the sensor faces the disc magnets for accurate alignment.
2. Adjusting for Limited Space
- Space Constraints: Remove the plastic hinge piece from the sensor if space is tight.
- Secure with Cable Ties: Attach the sensor directly using cable ties without voiding the warranty.
3. Alignment Verification
- Crank Rotation: Ensure the sensor aligns with the magnets on the disc during crank rotation to send signals to the controller and activate the motor.
- LED Indicator: A consistently flashing LED on the pedal sensor during forward crank motion indicates correct magnet detection and essential motor function.
4. Standard Installation Position
- Left Side Installation: Install the PAS on the left side, opposite the drive chain, to avoid fitting issues.
5. Consult the Manual (Page 23)
- Different Installation Methods: Refer to the manual (page 23) for specific instructions. Note that BRO-PAS has a slightly different magnet disc installation compared to PAS-UNI.
6. Fitting the Magnet Disc
- Assembly: Push the four pieces of the magnet disc together to fit onto the crank axle.
- Adjustments: Omit central pieces if needed to fit around wider cranks or narrow gaps between the frame and crank.
- Stability: Secure the magnet disc to the crank arm using cable ties to prevent misalignment.
7. Correct Side of the Magnet Disc
- Identify the Working Surface: Ensure the “WORKING SURFACE” text on the magnet disc faces the bike frame and pedal sensor.
8. Securing the Magnet Disc
- Use a Retention Ring: Secure the magnet disc with a metal crescent/C-shaped retention ring to prevent disassembly during rides.
9. Final Installation Check
- Alignment: Ensure the magnet disc is parallel to the frame. Rotate the cranks backward to check for any unwanted side movement.
