(Video below shows wheel installation at 0.40)
1. Reuse and Eco-Friendly Approach
- Remove Original Front Wheel: Start by removing the original front wheel.
- Reuse Tube and Tyre: Whenever possible, reuse the original tube and tyre on the Swytch wheel for an eco-friendly choice. Deflate the tube completely to easily remove the original tyre.
2. Handling Disc Brakes
- Remove Disc Rotor: If your bike has disc brakes, remove the existing disc rotor from the original wheel.
- Reinstall on Swytch Wheel: Attach the disc rotor to the new Swytch wheel.
3. Proper Placement
- Insert the Wheel: With the wheel prepped, carefully place it into the open drop-outs.
- Position the Cable: Ensure the cable is positioned downward to aid performance and prevent water from entering the motor hub.
4. Securing the Wheel
- Use Washers and Axle Nut: Secure the wheel using washer(s) and an axle nut.
- Tighten the Axle Nut: Use an adjustable wrench or a standard wrench (size 18) to tighten the axle nut to approximately 45nm. A torque wrench is ideal for this.
- Axle Nut Covers: Note that REG wheels have plastic covers for the axle nuts, while NAR wheels do not.
5. Final Checks and Adjustments
- Spin the Wheel: After securing the wheel, give it a spin to ensure it moves freely without friction against brake pads or the fork.
- Adjust Brakes: If there is too much or too little contact with the brake pads during braking, adjust the brakes accordingly.
