Common fitting issues - PAS

  • Difficult Magnet Disc Installation: Certain crank and bottom bracket models, like Hollowtech, pose challenges for magnet disc installation due to lack of space. In such cases, removing internal plastic inserts can help fit the disc. This adjustment also allows for positioning the disc farther from the tube if needed. Tightening bolts and nuts on the crank arm attachment is crucial to prevent disc and sensor misalignment.

  • No Installation Space for Magnet Disc or Sensor: If neither the magnet disc nor the pedal sensor can be installed, consider the specialized PAS v12 pedal sensor. This sensor type eliminates the need for a magnet disc and can be fitted between the crank and bottom bracket directly. Ensure there's approximately 4-5mm space between the bottom bracket and crank, and use a compatible bottom bracket type (e.g., Shimano BB-UN300). While this solution is effective, installation is more complex than the default PAS and may require a crank extractor tool or professional assistance.
